Introduction of the PaintressQiao Aihua, a native of Luoning County, Henan Province, is a noted Chinese finger paintress, and a Country-level first grade artist,also an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage and member of a council of China Painting and calligraphy Association,being invited as a special artist by both China Century Altar Art Museum and Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce.Qiao Aihua was born in 1950 and lived in a poor peasants’ family in mountainous area of western Henan Province. As a child she was unable to go to school because of poverty, but liked drawing very much,particularly good at drawing peony and plum blossom. As a very little girl, she started pasturing cattle in the hills and doing farm work in the farmland with her father. She was so good at watching and appreciating the various and graceful bearing of flowers and plants whenhaving a break. When she was only seven, she started to draw tree branches and wild grass on plane rock with a sharp stone. At the age of twelve, she learned to draw plum blossom on the land ridge using tree branches. Enlightened and inspired by her father, she started to try drawing peach and plum blossoms and peony flower on the waste cloth and silk using her fingers when she was 22. At the age of 40, fortunately under the guidance of Mr. Wang Chengxi, a great master of painting plum blossom in our country, Qiao Aihua’s inspiration burst out and her thought of composition of a painting was greatly expanded and her skill of composition advanced rapidly. Then, Qiao successfully facsimiled the Master’s great works of plum blossom,and was sincerely appreciated and praised by the Master himself. By and by, under the conception of dexterously utilizing the flow direction and tendency of the Yellow River, Qiao succeeded in painting a finger painting titled The First Plum Blossom Under Heaven that shock the painting industry. In November the same year, she drew a painting called Spring Coming With Peony and Plum Blossom, which was praised and top rated for two varieties of excellent blossom in one painting and both colorfulness and plainness in one show. It was also the first time for her to draw such a painting that was top rated and collected with a long price by foreign friends. Afterwards, the quality of her painting was bettering continuously and novelly and skillfully conceived works emerged endlessly.Nearly over two thousands of her wonderful works were published and collected by about a hundredpainting lovers, including some state and provincial or ministry leaders , some great masters, professors of the painting circle, scientists of aerospace, notable hosts of CCTV, well-known film stars and some foreign friends.In March 2015, Qiao was appointed as an academician of Qingfeng Painting and Calligraphy Academy of Henan Provence. Her large-scale painting Drawing of Peony was enshrined ceremoniously by the PLA stationed in Luoyang during the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. In September 2016, Qiao’s finger painting works was intended to be nonphysical cultural heritage of Xigong District, by the Government of Xigong District, Luoyang City, Henan Province. In October, 2016, Qiao was formally absorbed into the Council of Painting and Calligraphy Art as a member of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Alliance.In February, 2018, Qiao’s studio named Henan-Luoyang Ai-hua Studio was formally identified as the cooperator of China Century Altar Traditional Culture Season by the Administration Center of China Century Altar with her finger painting works being the permanent collection of China Century Altar Art Museum. Her finger painting works titled Long Scroll of Luoyang Peony had the honor to win first prize of art category among Henan Provincial Painting and Calligraphy Works Exhibits, during the theme activity titled “Eulogizing the Centenary Anniversary with Painting and Calligraphy” equivalent to “Celebrating of the Centenary of the Chinese Communist Party” inSeptember 2021.
